HALLOWEEN

Kayla has one more day for radiation left. YEA!!!! Disappointing news is that we found out today that we have one more dose of Chemo. Then we have a 30 day break. She will start her full round of Chemo on Dec. 5. She will be admitted into the hospital for a day or two.

We went to the fall feast at church to help do face painting for the younger kids. I say it that way cause Kayla is to OLD to attend. Funny! We are a 6 grader now. Then Kayla went Trick or Treating with her girlfriend Carson(the green M&M). Their costumes came out cute. Tomorrow we will be leaving on a middle school youth retreat.

Gods Day & Make A WISH Day

Boy what a weekend....We are tired. Kayla made it church to sing. Her dad came to see her sing for the Lord!! We joined our church at Bannockburn. We have been there over a year and it was time to become a member. Kayla and Alyssa went to youth and went to our members class. Then as new members we had lunch with the pastors and their families. Guess what we had for lunch? BBQ It was funny!!! I had no clue what we were having for lunch. Then we ran home to meet the people from MAKE A WISH. They came to interview Kayla to see where she would like to go. Her wish is Disney in Europe or a Disney Cruise. Well will see!!!! Went back to church for choir and awana's. What a weekend!!!

5 weeks down

Kayla did OK this morning. She had Chemo today and we received her blood count. IT WAS GREAT!!! That meant we are able to go to the benefit. She was hoping she could so she could she her friends. Another busy day. We had to finish up costume shopping for Trace and her. Trace had a Fall fest at school,Russell had RA's(church activity)and then Kayla had a lock-in at GATTi Town. Needless to say mom did not get any rest until about 1:00 am. That's alright it was Kayla's first school function from school that she wanted to attend so I jumped on it. Tomorrow is the Benefit for Kayla. We are all excited.

CRAZY DAY

Well Kayla had a bad morning. I guess we spoke to soon. Trace had a dentist appointment so she just rested at the dentist. After the dentist our car decided to give us troubles. So we called Russell to come get us so we could get Kayla to radiation. When we finally got to Dr.Brown's he decided to increase Kayla meds again. He said he did not think she was ready yet. Bad news for Kayla. She does not like taking her meds. Basically she's tired of meds. This was a very long day.....
But as the LORD says Psalms 105:4 Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
Just remembering the Lord is in control is what keeps me going.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.
2 more days until the benefit!!!!

Kayla and I went shopping the rest of the material for her costume and then went to
radiation. Her dad had made plans to take her Kayaking on Town Lake. She took pictures so when I get them I'll put them up. She had a great time. Then he took her shopping at Old Navy. FUN!!! We had to go to football practice for the boys. Trace decided to collided with another little boy and cut cheek open. So, we need up at the hospital to finish up the night. Trace got 9 stitches.Long night!!!!
Keep Praying...... The Lord knows we need him.

Broken Machine

Kayla is doing good today. She had school today and is doing very well. She received all A's and one B on her report card. The disappointing news today was Kayla was suppose to finish her 1st part of treatment on Halloween but the girls from Dr.Brown's office called and said the machine was down so we would be going to a later appointment. Than 45 mins before our appointment they called again and said it was down again. SO, this means Kayla will have to go one day in Nov.:( She was a little bummed but it was OK. Everything happens for a reason. Since we were out and about the kids wanted ice cream so we went to Sandy's YUMMMM. Then I thought I would surprise them and take them on a train ride at Zilker but it was closed. So, we went to play PUTT PUTT at Peter Pan golf.It was a good night.
Remember it's only 6 more days until Kayla's Benefit!!

GODS DAY

Well,THANK YOU for all the prayers to get to church on time for choir. KAYLA was able to sing for the LORD this morning. Not to add the girls got mom up at 5:30am. I could not believe they were up so early!!! I made heart pancakes and eggs for them and coffee for me! Needless to say they went back to sleep for about an hour and I got ready for church. I told the girls on the way to church I guess this is what we needed was sleepover to get us to church early. They suggested to have one every weekend!!! The Lord answered my prayers. PSALM 4:3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself;the LORD will hear when I call to him.
Kayla asked if we could take the girls to El Gallo for lunch. So, that's what we did. Carson's sisters and mom(Jeanne)went with it was a great time of fellowship. The weekend ended up being pretty good!!!
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.

Mystery Dinner

Kayla had a very bad morning this morning. I did not think we were going to make through the day. She slept most of the morning. My wonderful aunt Barbara came over to help me out with cleaning and Kayla more cleaning... Thank You!!! About 3:00 pm Kayla started to feel better.
She got up and said" Are we going to the dinner mom?" I was amazed because I really did not think we would be doing anything today. So, the boys had went to their dads and Kayla and I got ready for the dinner. We had a lot of fun. The girls got to eat Spaghetti with a knife, spoon or a fork. You had to pick your meal and utensils by picking numbers....So you had no clue what you were eating first or with what! Then Kayla asked if one of the girls could sleep over and I suggested to invite all 3 of them. It was a SLUMBER PARTY! So, they all come over,we watched Soccer MOM, ate micro smoars, drank Izzy's and then had a battle with water bottle. They had a great time. It was nice to see her hanging with her friends.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.

The End of the 4th week

Kayla is 4 weeks through radiation. She has 2 more weeks left and 2 doses of Chemo left! Then she has a 30 day break. Overall all her ups and downs she is doing very well. Kayla has been very strong through this and is becoming even stronger spiritually.
She has gained 10 pounds and still eating. Today was a little long cause Dr. Harrods office was running a little behind so we had to postpone radiation until 2pm. Fridays are a day of rest for her do to she has so much done this day. Her blood count is still good. We have been very lucky with this as well. The LORD has definitely be watching over her. Tomorrow is the mystery dinner hopefully she is doing good.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.
Proverbs 17:22 A Cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Pumpkin Patch Day

Kayla had a good day.Giving her ,her meds early in the mornings are working out really good for her. We went with Trace on his field trip to Wyatt's Nursery. We learned about all the different kinds of pumpkins, then Trace and Kayla were able to pick out a pumpkin. After that Kayla and I went shopping for items to put her costume together. Of course, we had to fit radiation in there. We did very well finding everything for cheap!!! All mom needs to do is make the M & M.

Later we took the boys to football practice and then ours cousins were in town so they stopped by for a little. It was a busy good day.

Went to radiation with 2 more days to go. Kayla went to youth group and had great time. Kayla and her friend Carson have chosen to be M & M's for Halloween ,so we will begin searching for costume items so we can put it together. Kayla is real excited about that!!!
She will also be attending a GIRLS mystery dinner on Saturday night,as long as her count comes back good on Friday. It sounds like fun!!! We all had to rush home for bed because we were going with Trace on his field trip to the pumpkin patch tomorrow. So cross your fingers we (Kayla)feels good in the morning.

Bad Day

When I thought I was back I was wrong!!! Kayla had a bad evening Monday night. Then Trace decided to get sick on me about 1:00am in the morning. Between Kayla and Trace I saw enough of you know what to last me for a while. So, poor Trace was kept in his room all day. Kayla is Queen of the house if anyone is to get sick. It was kind of cute cause Trace said he did not like being sick and Kayla said"Now you know how I feel". Trace then said" I am I sick like you now"? It was just cute how it all came out. It was really hard to keep a 5 year old in his room all day. Later that night then mom started feeling something coming on. I was so scared cause I really did not want Kayla catching anything. Needless to say it was another quiet night.
Keep Praying....
THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.

Gods Day

Kayla was able to atttend church this morning. One of these days we will be early enough so she can sing with the chior since she practices with them. We get up at 7:30 /8:00 and we still just can't make it on time. Thats my new prayer is to ask the Lord to help us feel good enough to get up and go. Kayla moves very slow in the mornings, if mamma is not up and ready to go before she gets up its hard. So please pray for that. After Church Russell had a party to attend so we dropped him off and we went to eat at El Gallo for lunch. By that time it was church time agian. Sundays we ussally spend our day at church and resting since thats what the Lord wants us to do. For the Lord has provided for us as he says he will...

We had to pick up Russell from a friends house cause he went camping with RA's from church. We wanted to go but I didn't think it would have been good for Kayla. So, we got to sleep in our bed while Russell listened to the crickets.. SHHHH do not tell him that!!!! :) We had to take our friend Shea and her family dinner ( I hope you have kept them in your prayers too) she is awesome women, when we got there she had a present for Kayla and I. THANK YOU Shea!!! She is a child of God!!!

yesterday it was a long day for her. We went to Chemo this morning and she received a flu shot(we all had to get the flu shot)and her Chemo med. They checked her blood count and it was still good.Praise The LORD!
It was neat today cause Trace(little brother)was able to go with us,as well as yesterday, so he was able to see what his sister does when he's in school. He thought it was cool cause he got to eat Amy's Ice cream and play the Xbox. After Chemo Kayla received a surprise phone call from her Pop Pop saying that him and Nana were going to meet us at Radiation. That was cool!!! They got to see exactly what Kayla does everyday as well.
She was wanting to go to Bear Day at school but by the time we were half way home she was tired and just wanted to go home and rest. She wasn't feeling good after dinner. It was a quiet night.

Kayla is really starting to loose her hair this week. But as she says IT GROWS BACK!!!
She is so brave, strong, beautiful and of course GODS CHILD. Thank you Lord.
We received her Make A Wish papers so I told her she really has to start thinking of where it is she wants to go. She also received an awesome book from some friends from Florida, it was beautiful and full of Gods words and blessings. Thanks!!

The Begining of week 3

It's Monday and we had another long night. Kayla was not able to make school this morning, she just did not feel good. Her mouth, throat, jaw and stomach hurts a lot. I put a call in to Dr, Harrod for her jaw after reading, this is a side effect from the Chemo med. We now have Tylenol 3 for pain, more meds to upset our tummy, but what are you to do! Went to Radiation and our tummy did not like the Tylenol 3..... saw Dr. Brown and found out we had Thrush as well. That's why our mouth has been hurting. It common when getting radiation in the area where Kayla's getting it.
2 more days left until the spine is done.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.

The Holy Day

Woke up Sunday and Kayla just wasn't feeling to good today. She had a tough night and still not a lot of sleep. So Kayla and took the boys to church and we came home to rest until church was over.I was hoping that if we rested we would make it of youth choir and dance but it did not happen. It was just one of those days. We most definitely needed to remember Coach Ables verse today: Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
Kayla and I had a talk today, I reminded her that she was strong and could beat this.
Keep the prayers coming!!!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.

The Weekend

Long night!!! Not much sleep. Kayla woke up throughout the night in pain of different things.
Her ankles, stomach and now jaw are bothering her. She did eat almost a half pound of bacon this morning but was not able to keep it down. Seems like the new meds for nausea didn't work any better. We notice today that she is starting to loose her hair. I guess it's almost time to get mine cut!!
It was a movie hanging day. Spoke to my girlfriend Linda today and everyone has been awsome about helping her out with the benefit for Kayla. GOD BLESS everyone of you.
The night was not good again, still feeling nausea. She was finally able to fall asleep about 10:00.
Please keep praying for her to feel better and have positive spirits.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.

First Day of Chemo

This morning was not to good again. Really didn't do anything but hang around for Kayla's appointment. For Kayla that is, mommy was busy doing things around the house etc. When we got to Dr. Harrod's office we went over the side effects of what to expect from the Chemo med and we also found out that she gets to hear a lot about Kayla through the back doors(as she says, she knows someone we know). They took blood for her counts and then we got some nausea medicine and her first dose of Vincristine (Chemo). The Child Life Specialist talk to us about a wig for Kayla and helped get that set up for her. By the way her blood count came back GREAT! Praise GOD!!! Then it was Radiation time. Dr. Brown changed her nausea medicine since we were still getting sick in the morning.
I received a phone call from Shea, she was calling to check in and let us know she had a present for Kayla and the family. She looks great, she was walking with a cane already. Please continue to pray for her and her family.
It was a LONG day and she rested for the rest of the night.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.

Day before 1st dose of Chemo

Kayla has been having a tough day today, but she is getting through it. Her teacher had to come back in the afternoon cause she wasn't feeling to good in the morning. The mornings are still very tough for her. Being positive they have gotten better!!! After school in the afternoon, Kayla's friend Mandy called her up and asked her if she felt up to going to Bowie High school to have devotional time with the Varsity football players cause they were all wanting to meet her. They have been all praying for her since she was in the hospital. Then she went to a Volleyball game at her middle school. She is a little nervous about tomorrow.

Good News

Kayla had a pretty good day. We got all our homework done last night.
We found out she has 1 more week of Radiation left on the spine. Than the rest of Radiation will be only on the brain. This gives her something to look forward to. She made it to youth group tonight and of course, came home very tired. Being involved in church helps her cause most important she's growing closer to God and then she gets to be around kids(friends) her own age.
O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good;for his mercy endureth for ever. 1 Chronicles 16:34
